I am Marlia Walker, a public relations student at the University of North Florida who has a passion for aviation and communication. I am a hard-working and driven individual who prides herself on her strong work ethic and optimistic outlook.
I grew up in a military household which inspired a respectful attitude and sense of responsibility for my actions. I was raised around aircraft and attended numerous flight events, such as AOPA’s Annual Fly-In and Sun’N Fun. I have a passion for travel and have developed social media skills to not only share my experiences with others but to also research my next destination.
I have a strong background with Microsoft Office, budgeting software, marketing programs and business proposals through my first job in a national flight school. These skills were honed throughout my experience in customer service where I currently utilize strong communication skills and promote a positive atmosphere for my co-workers as well as my clients. I also use Adobe products such as Photoshop and InDesign for both school and personal use.
I am also active in the local Jacksonville community. I have volunteer experience mentoring Burmese refugees and participating in various charity events across the community, such as the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, where I put together baskets and handed out gifts to families at their service center.
My ultimate goal is to show consistent, quality work while incorporating my communication, research and technological skills.
